Push away the excuses and anything that’s keeping you from starting, or finishing, your novel. You always said you’d do, so do it. Keep the promise you made to yourself.
While it’s not impossible to write when we feel empty, it is impossible to write with any power or beauty or depth when the words aren’t there, when we truly are empty. A reminder to keep youself filled and inspired if you want to produce powerful writing.
Many writers have great expectations for their first novel manuscript. But are those expectations realistic? A look at what you can expect of your first novel.
No matter what some expert says, you don’t have to write every day to be a real writer.
Not everyone will like what you write and how you write it. An encouragement when the voice of detractors seems louder than the voice of your fans.
There is not only one way to write a sentence, a scene, a chapter, or a story. Writing a novel isn’t only about plugging in words and events and scenes in accordance with a formula. It’s writing with skill and artistry.

I don’t take on every manuscript that’s sent to me for editing. The simple reason is that many are not ready for a professional edit. A look at my reasons for turning down an edit.
Too much attention on writing mechanics and rules can discourage writers when instead they should be encouraged by what craft allows them to create. A reminder to think about the fire and passion of fiction.
The reader will focus on what stands out. Turn the reader's attention where you want it to go.
