Write well. Write often. Edit wisely.
Editors aren’t bad guys, eager to point out errors, to prove themselves all-knowing. Instead, editors are on the writer’s side, working with the writer to produce the best story possible.
Writers need trusted critics who’ll tell them when their writing isn’t up to snuff. And when they’re ravaged by rejections, bad reviews, or characters who won’t cooperate, writers need friends who’ll encourage them to keep writing.
All writers and editors should have their own reference books and writing resources. These are some of my favorite resources for writers.
Every writer needs a second pair of eyes. Discover the reasons why you might need an editor and the circumstances when you don’t need one.
The reader will focus on what stands out. Turn the reader's attention where you want it to go.
